Whippersnappers
Whippersnappers CIC provide a diverse cultural platform from which children and adults of all ages, needs and backgrounds can express and educate themselves through music, theatre, sports and the arts.
Whippersnappers were founded in 1994 and operate from 2 sites; Brockwell lido in Herne Hill and College Lodge in Dulwich Park. Over the years we have diversified and now provide creative arts activities for all ages, and childcare for children and young people with disabilities. We are passionate about SEND provision and conduct our own research projects and publish our findings; you can read our latest report here and watch our film here.
Whippersnappers CIC are proud to be a community interest company investing all our profits back into our company and being driven by our social aims and objectives. We are a vibrant multicultural company with a creative team of artists, actors, musicians and freelancers. Every year our creative team run two immersive theatre fundraising events; Fairy and Pixie Land in Summer and Winter Wonderland in December.
Activities
In July 2024, First 5 Lambeth were awarded funding from the Walcot Foundation to provide practical and emotional support to low-income families with early years SEND children.
As part of this project Whippersnappers are running SEND stay-and-play sessions at the Liz Atkinson Children’s centre on Mondays. Pre-school children do not need to have a diagnosis to attend, you can find out more about these sessions here.
Saturday dads sessions in Brockwell Park will be starting in March 2025 in partnership with Unity matters. We will also continue to work with our First 5 Lambeth partners to expand our SEND early years sessions across Lambeth.
