How we work
First 5 Lambeth was founded in 2023 by a diverse group of 10 Voluntary, Community Sector organisations. They had been working together informally through their partnership with Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP).
First 5 Lambeth works collaboratively, using a model that these organisations formally agreed to through a Memorandum of Understanding.
We committed to:
- provide high-quality activities and support for families in the early years
- broaden the reach of their engagement
- share skills and strengths
- develop business and funding opportunities
- manage grants and contracts that are won collectively
years combined service with Lambeth children and families
How we are governed
First 5 Lambeth is informed and supported by 4 mechanisms:
-
The Members Steering Group
This consists of the Directors/Senior Leaders of each member organisation. It is responsible for strategic oversight.
-
The Working Groups
Smaller groups of steering group members who have delegated responsibility for strategy in practise, communications and funding.
-
The Parents as Experts panels
Quarterly participation sessions held with parents who have taken part in First 5 Lambeth activities or support. These sessions provide insight, feedback, and co-production opportunities.
-
The Community Connections Advisory Group
Meets bi-annually and consists of representatives from the wider local early years eco-system. This group provides knowledge of the wider early years system and local expertise and acts as a critical friend.
